What
is happening in December 2002?
With the colder weather, work has slowed down at the site, but Tim, Nipper, Alex, Carol and Lorna are working on the windows in a warm garage (call Tim at 932 5533 if you want to help). Finishing and installing the five large windows on the east side is our priority. Meantime, Carol (239 0370), Lorna and Joanne are working on the layout for the barrier free bathrooms. Carol is also checking out the availability of lamps and other things for the school in local stores.
Tim and Alex have
been working in the new bathroom on the main floor, installing
soffits, insulating, and preparing to build a false ceiling.
But before we go much further, the plumber has to run a vent pipe
for the toilets. We need to cover a hole in a wall with
lath and plaster; please call Tim if you are experienced with
lath and plaster and can help us. Note that we do have a
furnace installed and can heat the building if we want to. However,
it is not insulated at the moment and still a bit leaky, so we
are reluctant to turn the heat on.
Windows and
emergency door for the basement are on order and should be in by
mid-December. A neighbor who owned an electrical supply
business has offered to give us all the electrical supplies we
require.
Need firewood?
Please go over and help yourself to the old construction lumber
on the northwest corner.
Note how tidy the
MR lot looks these days. Roger cleaned up the old frames
that had been littering the site for 7 years, and Tim
mowed the grass and Leigh bailed it and removed it. This
also reduced the fire hazard, something we were concerned about.
