The Historic Bearspaw School #3851 was built in 1920 and for forty-five years was the heart of the Bearspaw District, providing for both the educational and recreational needs of the community. In 2000, the school was threatened with demolition, when the owner wanted the building removed from its land. In the fall of 2000, the Bearspaw Historical Society offered to take responsibility for the school, move it to a new site nearby, and restore and rehabilitate it. Now it sits on its new foundation in the new heart of the Bearspaw District, directly across the road from the Bearspaw Lifestyle Centre and fifty metres north of the new public Bearspaw School. Once again it will be used for the educational and recreational needs of children and adults in the community. |
