Anyone need a potty break?

The gravel of Bubar Road gives way to the paved - but just as lovely - Kettle Valley South Road. This field of (Canola?) is near kilometer 15.5

Kettle Valley South Road turns north at Rock Creek and continues up the east side of the Kettle River

The KVR now travels right beside the Kettle River: I feel liked we've been bumped up to first class

The bridge at kilometer 24.9 moves the KVR over to the west side of the river. Elevation: 603 m.a.s.l.

The KVR passes through a rock slide area, and up the west side of the Kettle River

Near Zamora Station at kilometer 30.4, we enter another farming area where the trail is at times just a single track through fields of grass

The whole crew - minus yours truly, the photographer - approaches the culvert over Ed James Creek at kilometer 28.5

The culvert over Ed James Creek was a nice change from gates and cattle guards. Not really a problem at all

Approaching Zamora

A look back south shows a storm chasing us

A small slide just before Westbridge

At Westbridge, the rain caught us, and hail, so everyone hunkered down for a few minutes under tree cover. The valley here splits, with the Kettle River heading northeast and the West Kettle River heading northwest. Elevation: 633 m.a.s.l.

The KVR follows the West Kettle River, and never gets too far before crossing another cattle guard

After a couple of kilometers riding in the rain on the Blythe-Rhone road, we are all happy to come upon Paul Lautard's "cyclist's rest" in Rhone (kilometer 39.9). Paul has made a nice sheltered spot to get out of the elements - whether sun or rain - and within a couple of minutes of our arrival he came driving down from his nearby home, with his dog Stumpy

A hammock makes a nice change from a saddle

Paul built this railway car mockup himself
