Descendants of John and Margaret Boyd

Around 1815, the government in England was offering free passage, provisions and implements to families who were willing to emigrate to Canada.  The Boyd family from Keady in County Armagh, Ireland, decided to take up the offer and arrived in 1820.  John and Samuel and their sisters were members of the Methodist church.  Soon after they settled in Lanark County, at what is still known as Boyd’s Settlement, a Methodist church was established.  It is now known as Boyd’s United Church.  I am very grateful to all their descendants who have preserved their records and kept their history alive.
