Fuel system flush

Today's vehicles include injectors that feed precise  amounts of fuel into engine cylinders, maximizing performance and economy.  A clogged injector can affect the spray of fuel just like a clogged nozzle on a can of spray paint.

Fuel system components such as the intake manifold, injectors, combustion chamber and throttle valve should be cleaned whenever fuel economy or performance begins to suffer.

Recommended maintenance

  • Check fuel filter every 3 months or 6,000 Km
  • Replace at least every 2 years or 48,000 Km
  • Clean entire fuel system every 12 months or 24,000 Km

Maintenance tips

Fuel filters are responsible for capturing dirt and rust from your fuel tank, and clean a pressurized supply of fuel whenever your fuel pump in running.  In fact they will filter the contents of your fuel tank before all the gasoline is burned. But if the filter in contaminated, the fuel pump will need to work harder to deliver the gasoline and prematurely burn out the pump.

If your vehicle  is suffering symptoms such as hard starting, a complete fuel system cleaning should remedy the problem, provided the vehicle is in good mechanical condition.

Did you know?

The fuel filter should also be replaced whenever a new fuel pump is installed or work is conducted on the fuel system, because dirt can be dislodged in the process.
