Priceless
Gifts to Give (Our
Thought for Christmas)
- The gift of listening: No
interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response.
Just Listening.
- The gift of affection: Be
generous with appropriate hugs, pats on the back, smiles
and handshakes.
- The gift of laughter: Share a
good story, cartoon, joke to tell someone you love to
laugh with them.
- The gift of a compliment:
A sincere “you look ……”, “What a great
…..”, or “That was a wonderful …….” Can make
someone’s day.
- The gift of a favor: Every
day, do something kind for someone.
- The gift of solitude: There
are times when we need to be alone. Be sensitive to those
times and give the gift of solitude to others when needed
by them.
- The gift of a cheerful disposition: The
easiest way to make someone feel good is to be cheerful
yourself,
- The gift of prayer: Let
others know you pray for them……. Then do it!

Depends p. 152 by Barbara Johnson.)

The year in Review
We made a trip into Alberta in May
and visited with friends and family. We attended Steve's niece's
Karen's wedding. We hurried home to escape the next spring blizzard
after buying tire chains in Edmonton. It was snowing up to Hinton
and by the time we reached Jasper, skies were sunny. The snow and
ice on our car did not completely come off until we were nearing
Clearwater. Stepped into Vernon on the way home to visit Dennis and
Elaine Andrusiak and Ross Gonthier and Nancy Tower.

Steve spent
the summer working in the garden and managed to get in some
fishing on the beaches up to Campbell River for Pink and Coho
Salmon. We even managed to bring a few fish home.
We often go walking and at times we drive to Courtenay to go
for a walk. Then we treat ourselves at Tim Hortons. Many of our
fishing trips with Harold Tinling included a visit to Tim's as well. |

Vi's news: I also worked in the garden, on my hands
and knees, pulling out those stubborn weeds. Sometimes I even
had difficulty getting up again. We had a fruitful crop of
plums, pears, apples, blueberries, strawberries and grapes.
Fuji apples are a good keeper and we are still enjoying them
today. Besides gardening, I am enjoying art with the Nanaimo
Art Group and am involved in the Nanaimo Arts Council Gallery.
I haven't been doing much painting this fall since my hand
injury. The craziest thing happened on October 1. A great big
spider was in my way every time I went outside. It would build
a web across the sidewalk and I'd push it away. This annoyed
me one too many times and I flicked at the spider and tore a tendon
on my middle finger. Dr.Robinson performed a 10 minute surgery on
October 9 and everything was o.k. until I re-injured myself on
November 11, a day I shall not forget. This set me back about
3 weeks. Fortunately, no serious damage occurred. Now it is
starting to feel better, swelling and pain almost gone.
So don't flick at any spiders or anything! Torn or broken
tendons do not mend themselves as they can shrink. Therapy is
also a MUST. Soon I shall start painting again
and continue making cards. We will
have a quiet Christmas at home visiting with friends over the
holidays. Warm Christmas Wishes to everyone and try to
stay away from food that sticks to you thighs. May you have a
Peaceful, Happy New Year in 2004.
