St. Patrick's Day
Lots of fun for both Compass' staff and our clientele. We may have to make a little more effort and spend a little more "promo" $$$$ but as customer said to me today "You made an effort and made me smile".
Our event was held in the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary
Thanks to Matt, Ada, April and Connie (who went home ill) for getting us open this morning
We had fun today even though we started off short staffed. This is what we did:
The previous page shows what was posted for this event. Irish Cream shooters for Breakfast were omitted for obvious reasons (Just kidding).
The menu was very simple. We could have been a little more elaborate but time and space is at a premium at this locale.
We offered two soups, Cream of Green Pea and Irish Cabbage Soup
Main Entree was a traditional Irish Stew (made by a Brit) Served with an Irish Soda Bun.
Our Grill offering was a "Paddy's" Patty Melt
We offered a free cookie after 11:00 am to customers wearing green that made a purchase from the Cafe. We had to specify that any green clothing had to be "normal" street attire and not work related due to the fact we are in a hospital and the majority of our customers wear green scrubs.
We have a good sound system, so we started "rockin" at 6:30am with really good original Irish music. We decided that due to Health and Safety concerns, no one should attempt the Irish jig in the Cafe!!! lol!
Lucky Leprechaun Loonies! ---I know it sounds corny but it was fun. I Shopped for as many small gift items as possible from dollar stores, Supermarkets, San Francisco type stores and even Second Cup (Thanks Jody for the small packs of Irish Cream Coffee). The most expensive items were probably the Irish Spring body wash (no-one took offence) and an Arctic Shamrock Plant. In total we had about 50 items. We marked 50 loonies with the green metallic shamrock confetti. If anyone received one in their change (only one) they were to draw a lucky # from our lucky green bowl. A list of corresponding #'s along with prizes was displayed.
The Leprechaun Lunch was good chuckle. This was a Shamrock emblem shot glass filled half full with green jelly beans (I didn't realize how expensive jelly beans were, that why only half full).
