The son of Joseph and Mary Ann Rolfe of 9, Noble Street, Hoyland, he was born in Hoyland, lived at Hoyland and enlisted at Sheffield in Febuary 1915.
He died of wounds on the 26th September, 1916, while serving on the Western Front.
