The son of Thomas and Malinda Kennedy of 11, Millhouses Street, Hoyland, he was born in Dronfield and enlisted at Barnsley on the 17th December 1910, he served in India and joined the Expeditionary Force France on the 15th January 1915, he was wounded and returned home on the 3rd May 1915, returning to France on the 2nd January 1916.
He was killed in action on the 21st April, 1917, while serving on the Western Front.
