Belonging to a choir is an extraordinary experience!
The Aurora Youth Choirs were founded in 2006 by Joanna Torguson to provide a place for young singers from all over the community to share the rewarding experience of making music together. The choirs teach healthy singing techniques, musicianship, and fundamentals of concert performances. High quality and challenging music written for young voices is at the heart of the program. The choirs help each chorister develop a lifelong appreciation of music and promotes active participation in the musical life of the community. Best of all, Aurora is a warm, safe space for children and youth to explore and find their voices.

Unique Opportunities
Our choristers are offered lots of opportunities! As Fort McMurray's only community choir for children and youth, we are an ideal choice for organizations wanting children to sing but not wanting to select just one group from the variety of schools and classrooms in the area. We produce two concerts annualy and work hard to involve the children in lots of community events.
We go carolling at Heritage Park, sing at the Festival of Trees, try to take part in fundraisers for worthy causes such as Relay for Life, and have even taken part in the Olympic Torch Relay Celebration in 2009! We receive many requests to perform outside of Fort McMurray and qualifying ensembles alternate annually between a trip to Edmonton and a larger trip to somewhere further away..
