Description of Launch:
Wood ramp built over a cliff launch. Wire assist is almost always needed especially when soarable - most the time 2 wiremen.
We fixed up the ramp in 2007 with some new wood and felled some trees in front of launch.

Directions to Launch:
Because of snow the road to launch is usually open from the end of June till mid September.
A wire assist is usually required. The LZ is 5 miles from take off so lift must be present to reach it. (It normally is).
Road to launch is good but lots of big rocks slow going for last 2 km. Can make it with 2 wheel drive if have the clearence. 4 wheel is better.

Soaring Information and Weather Notes:
This site is usually pretty windy but calms in early evening.
Good place for out and returns. Watch out for sink over Sparwood.
Landing field is still the same very large field with a long glide out, sometimes with sink.
Best to take a ridge out to LZ. for best chance of lift or less sink.

Description of LZ:
Level grassy field along side the highway west of Fernie, shortly before the Fernie Ski Hill turn off.
Must be soarable to reach LZ (Usually it is)
There is a railway crossing to get in landing feild
WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE VEHICLES ACROSS TRACKS. MUST PACK GLIDERS OUT OF FIELD.
This is a very short walk. We can open gates as long as we close them when done.

Directions to LZ:
An easy Intermediate LZ. There is an emergency field below launch. If you must use it, get out as soon as possible as we are not welcome.
Please contact a local flyer before flying here for updated info. There is also a good chance that they will want to fly as well.
There is a Provincial campsite nearby.

Other Information:
This is a beautiful site to fly. If you do not make it to the landing field there is an emergency field at the bottom
but get out fast, we are not welcome there, Call locals before you fly, they may come with you.
